Art without Boundaries |

| Background | ||||
What fascinates me? Nature, organic shapes and patterns. How things are naturally formed and joined together. Being able to use and manipulate natural substances, but also to use materials to create new structures. Sharing my emotions by producing something new, and stimulating emotions and reactions in others through touch and sight. Each design has it’s own form, colour, texture and shape which evoke different feelings within individuals who wear or see it. My emotions and the way they affect me physically and mentally play a role in initial idea development. My feelings, inspired by nature and materials are literally captured/encapsulated by the extremities of the piece. Creating “natural” shapes and textures using different materials. Tactility and texture is important. I want the wearer to feel the texture and to be surprised by what they find. Using repetition to create uniformity and rhythm over a piece of work. Experimenting with materials from wood to plastic. Using “boundaries” and enclosed spaces to capture the feeling of an emotion. Julie Mepham |
